Places to Go in 2015

bahamas cabanaIf foreign travel is a part of your new year’s resolutions, you’re in luck. The world’s top travel publications are in the midst of publishing their “Places to Travel in 2015” lists, and they’ve sourced a number of fascinating destinations. Unsurprisingly, Cuba tops most experts’ lists. Now that President Barack Obama has restored diplomatic relations with the island country, travel restrictions are being eased (though not eliminated) and travel die-hards are looking for ways they can tour the long off-limits country. Another popular travel option is Namibia, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary as an independent country apart from South Africa in 2015.

Fortunately, Celebrity Cruises sets sails to a number of these highly-touted destination cities so you’ll be able to see what all the travel writers are raving about. To simplify things, we’ve compiled a list of top port cities to see in 2015.

According to our frequent partners at Travel + Leisure, who have identified 50 places to venture in 2015, Hong Kong, the Bahamas, Maui, and our home port of Miami are all sites to stop by in the new year.

Slightly further afield, but still within traveling distance of Celebrity ports are Milan, Italy and Leipzig, Germany. The former is hosting this year’s Expo 2015, a 184-day long exhibition that takes on the theme of food and nutrition and features pavilions by the likes of Daniel Libeskind and Norman Foster, while the latter is celebrating it’s 1,000th birthday with a year-long series of events, including special concerts, theater shows and museum exhibits. Both are long-term engagements, so if you’re heading to Europe this year, be sure to factor them into your travel plans.

Meanwhile, Conde Nast Traveler‘s () top 15 picks include Cartagena, Colombia, Myanmar, Helsinki and Milford Sound, New Zealand.

We here at Celebrity would also happily recommend any country on our world tour, particularly any of of our new ports, including Beppu, Japan; Kanazawa, Japan; and Vladivostok, Russia.

Where will you travel in 2015?
