Four Fun Gadgets for Travelers from CES 2014

iLoungeThe International CES, an annual trade show for global consumer electronics held in Las Vegas every January, is best known for being the venue where technology companies large and small show off their newest and snazziest products. Many an oversized television screen or cutting-edge gaming console has been introduced at CES, and this year’s offerings — ranging from the latest in ultra high-definition TVs, new notebooks and advanced 3-D printers — were as  trendsetting as in previous years.

While most of the products introduced at CES wouldn’t fit in a suitcase, let alone a shorts pocket, we did key in on a few new gadgets that could potentially simplify the life of a frequent traveler or cruiser.

Razer Nabu

The biggest trend emerging from CES this year was the growth of wearable tech, and this smartwatch and fitness tracker hybrid was among the most highly reviewed. Unlike its competitors, the Nabu features two screens — one to keep track of your sleep patterns and fitness activities , such as steps taken per day, and a second to show text messages and other data. Plus, with an expected battery life of seven to 10 days per charge, it’s perfect for staying connected while wandering new locales.

Few people derive pleasure out of brushing their teeth, but this connected electric toothbrush may just change that. Because of its Bluetooth connectivity, the Kolibree can measure your brushing technique as you use it and display your progress on an accompanying smartphone app. It will also keep your kids entertained and your hygiene intact even multiple days into your vacation.

For travelers who can’t bear to be away from their pets — or at least know how it’s doing — for long periods of time, the Voyce smart collar fits around your dog’s neck and tracks how busy your pet is during the day. The collar measures key vital signs, such as heart rate and respiratory rate, and syncs with computers, smartphones and tablets so you’ll potentially always know exactly how Rover is doing without you, even if you’re sailing in the Caribbean.

Mophie Space Pack

Frequently find your iPhone 5(s) out of memory and battery power just as you see a perfect vacation moment to capture on video? The Mophie Space Pack iPhone case not only adds up to 100% extra battery, but it also gives you up to 32GB of additional storage — that’s an extra 16,000+ photos or 14+ hours of video. Perfect for you to download and play with at the Celebrity iLounge!
