Instagram Announces a New Way to Share Photos

Instagram DirectInstagram-aholics, rejoice.

Today, the addictive photo-sharing app said it was introducing “Instagram Direct,” a way for users to send photos to only a select, private group of people. In other words, you can continue presenting yourself as a sunset-appreciating and caviar-sampling aesthete publicly, but now also send pictures of your Hot Cheetos and Takis dinner to your five closest pals.

A screen capture explaining Instagram's new Direct messaging feature.

The new feature is easy to use. After tapping the camera button in the app to take your photo, just choose to share with specific people (“Direct”) instead of everyone who follows you (“Followers”). Feel free to try out the app by sending your best (or even better, most bizarre) travel images to us at @CelebrityCruises on Instagram.
